Employee Motivation

 

Employee motivation can be described as level of energy, commitment, persistence and creativity that a company’s employee brings to their job. Better employee motivation leads to productivity and engagement (Smarp.com, 2019)

Factors affecting to low level of employee motivation

·       Lack of participation – Employee need direct conversations and consistent with teams

·       Lack of equality – When employee feel they are treated unfairly they will not motivate

·       Poor relationships of co-workers and they work individually not together

·       They haven’t purpose and they did not identify it

·       Employees not participating in decision making

·       Poor reward system – Because of the poor reward system also we can see employee morale seems low level

(Economy, 2019)

 

Effects of the low level of employee motivation

·       Employees are not working with satisfaction and not gives their best to the organization

·       Organization unable to achieve their sales targets and profits according to the plan

·       Employees did not know about the clear purpose vision or mission so they not work with moral and also, they do not work together with core workers

·       Increase the retention level of the organization

·       Decrease the employee productivity level

How to increase the motivation of the Employees

When described to increase the employee motivation level organization able to get some actions to increase the employee motivation level. Identified actions are as below.


·       Create a positive work environment

When the environment is not attractive to employees they are not motivated so need to create a positive environment for the employees.

As an HR manager hope give autonomy to employees to choose the things they want to the workplace and also able to introduce playful work culture to the organization.

And also, able to use plants to the organization they may create a calming environment and it will increase productivity and happy of the employees.

Once increase employee happiness increase the motivation level of the employees.

·       Communicate Effectively

Good communication is always a better thing to the employees, managers and also owners of the organization. As HR manager able to encourage communication as below,

ü  Encourage to talk with other employees

ü  Encourage them to share their impressions. Thoughts, with others and support each other

ü  Encourage to express ideas openly and honestly

ü   When an organization has open door policy it will lead to listening to others

Once doing the above things employees feel they are the part of the organization and they will motivate.

·       Recognize good Performance

Employees like to see how their effort affects organizational performance. And also, they feel their contribution is very important it leads to their proud.

As an HR manager of the organization Able to do many things to motivate employees by recognizing good performance policy to the organization.

ü  Introduce a good and fair performance evaluation method to the organization

ü  Arrange programmes like awarding ceremony to give awards to best-performing employees

ü  Based on the performance able to give rewards and salary increments

By the above things able to increase the motivation level of the employees and they will work with moral.

 

·       Prioritize employee wellbeing

Healthy and happy employees are motivated and it is a very important point. As a manager, need to pay attention to their employees. Able to get some actions like below.

ü  Make sure employees have time to refuel, relax when they participating long hours to work

ü  Otherwise need to ensure they have healthy foods, snacks and water

ü  Need to encourage the use of tea breaks and lunch breaks

ü  Need to encourage to do social activities within the team members

Those things are very helpful to increase the motivation level of employees of the organization.

·       Lead with respect and trust

The employee needs independence and autonomy at work. As a human resource manager, he can get some easy actions to improve the respect and trust of their employees.

ü  All the managers can encourage to trust their employees

ü  Make a culture to self-manage their duties

ü  Team members can do their work according to their production cycle and also can respect their abilities

ü  Give responsibilities to the employees and then they feel they are valuable to the organization. This will lead to long term motivation of the employee.

  3. Low employee motivation can manifest itself in a variety of ways. In the vast majority of cases, it results in subpar performance. Employees who are unmotivated may lose interest in the quality of their work. Those who don't expect to be recognized are more likely to blame others when they don't accomplish their goals or produce poor quality work, giving them no incentive to put in extra time or effort.
